Description
A postal liver and rumen fluke egg test kit for alpacas and llamas, which are very susceptible to liver fluke.
The test uses sedimentation to look for liver fluke eggs and rumen fluke eggs in dung. Fluke eggs are only shed by adult flukes, which take several weeks to develop (around 10 to 12 weeks in sheep and cattle), and are shed intermittently, so a negative result does not rule out fluke. If you suspect acute fluke in the autumn, speak to your vet.
How it works: collect fresh dung from animals in the same group using the spoon provided, put it in the sample pot as one pooled sample, fill in the label and post the kit back to us the same day. Try to post Monday to Wednesday so the sample is not waiting in the post box over the weekend. Results appear in your account within 24 to 48 hours of the lab receiving your sample. Use one kit for each group of animals.
