Feline Lungworm Test Kit

Description

Lungworm can affect cats, particularly those that hunt or eat slugs, snails, birds or rodents. A lungworm screen looks for larvae, though you should always be aware of the symptoms: coughing, fast or laboured breathing, weight loss and lethargy.

Lungworm larvae are invisible to the naked eye, so a laboratory test is the only way to check.

Do the lungworm test if:

• Your cat hunts or eats slugs, snails, birds or rodents
• Your cat has a persistent cough or breathing problems
• You want to check your regular worming programme for resistance
• You would like to worm your cat less often but remain protected

This is a three day test requiring three samples in total. Post the samples on day three to make sure they are as fresh as possible when they arrive at the lab. Open the kit. Take a sample of your cat’s poo from that day using the small spoon provided. Put the sample into one of the sample pouches, dispose of the spoon! Repeat for days two and three. Fill out the labels with your details. Put the sample pouches into the freezer bag then into the prepaid post bag.

Try to take the samples Monday to Wednesday so the samples are not waiting in the post box for a couple of days.

The results are emailed to you within 5 days of receipt of the sample.
